I took Makenna's hair out last night and put Kya's hair in. Makenna's cornrows has lasted over 5 weeks-woo hoo! I remember the days when a hair-do only lasted a few days, maybe a week. And, because of Kya's hair texture, or lack thereof, I don't always put hers into a longer lasting type of style. But, I am so glad I did, because she LOVED it! She looked at herself and just giggled. I haven't finished it, but for now it's just in little coils. Here she is a year ago with just a little hair, and now:
And, Makenna's hair is just incredible. It has grown so much and is really getting long. It stretches to halfway down her back! She loves having an afro and thinks she is the most beautiful girl in the world when she is rocking her 'fro. Recently she went up to an Ethiopian lady(unprompted) while we were at dinner and told her how beautiful her hair was(she had a huge, gorgeous afro), she was completely in awe of her and just kept saying how pretty she was. I am REALLY hoping that this love for her natural hair does not fade with time. I love to see her that proud of her hair. Here are pics from Feb 2007, Feb 2008 and now Feb 2009. Look at the amount of growth! And, I can guarantee it's at least 2-3 times thicker too. Love it!

Both of your girls are just darling! You do such a great job on their hair! I can not believe Makenna's growth, that is amazing!
You are the reigning queen of hair! You are so good at styling and braiding.
BTW, I LOVE Kya's lip faces - she's too much.

I'm so impressed. Your girls' hair is gorgeous. The twists on kya are so sweet (how do you do that?!?) and Makena's hair is so awesome...very much like my son's coils. Love them. If I ever have a girl, I'm going to be coming to you for hair tips!

PLEASE post a tutorial on those coils - they are adorable. No clue how you did it, though...

We hope to travel by the 1st of April! Your girls are beautiful!! Ana's hair it very long and beautiful. I would love to be able to do some fun things with her hair, like you do with your girls!! How did you learn? Did you order a book or find something online?? Would you share your know-how??
Thanks a bunch,
